Sen. Roger Marshall Refuses to Denounce Racist and Antisemitic Texts From Kansas Young Republican Officials

Topeka, Kansas — This week, new reporting uncovered messages from Young Republican officials – including Kansas Young Republicans – that included racist and homophobic slurs, jokes about sexual assault and the Holocaust, and references to slavery, gas chambers, and Hitler.

While Kansas Republicans across the state have denounced the vile and hateful remarks by officials within their own party in the wake of the reporting, Senator Roger Marshall has remained completely silent.

In response, Kansas Democratic Party Chair Jeanna Repass released the following statement:

“As Republicans across Kansas have condemned the racism, antisemitism, and hateful views on display from leadership of Kansas Young Republicans in that group text, Roger Marshall has remained silent. Leadership means being willing to stand up for what is right – even if it means standing up to your own party. We call on Roger Marshall to end his cowardice and denounce these disgusting texts, because antisemitism and bigotry have no place in Kansas, or anywhere else.”
