Roger Marshall Votes to Keep His Reckless Tariffs Hammering Kansas Farmers In Place
Marshall doubles down on devastating trade war as farmers, ranchers, and Kansas families struggle with higher prices and economic uncertainty
Topeka, Kansas — Less than a week after Roger Marshall dismissed the devastating impact of his reckless tariff agenda as a mere “blip on the screen” for farmers and ranchers and told Kansans concerned with higher prices to “take a breath,” he refused to stand up for his own constituents by voting yet again to keep tariffs in place.
Marshall’s vote comes as Kansas farmers face a “farm trade collapse” that is threatening the “$1 billion to the Kansas economy [that] may not materialize this year” – all because he would rather double down on his reckless policies than lift a finger to protect Kansas farmers.
Statement from Kansas Democratic Party Chair Jeanna Repass:
“While Kansans pay more for groceries and goods and our farmers are fighting for their lives, Roger Marshall is betraying them by doubling down on his catastrophic trade war that is driving family farms into bankruptcy. Farmers and ranchers are one bad season away from ruin, and Marshall’s vote to keep destructive tariffs in place is making that collapse inevitable. Kansans will remember this betrayal, and they will fire him for it in 2026.”
