KANSAS DEMOCRATIC PARTY CONDEMNS THE VILE RHETORIC OF THE KS YOUNG REPUBLICANS

The Kansas Democratic Party has issued a statement condemning the despicable rhetoric revealed in the messages shared in the young Republicans group chat.

The Kansas Democratic Party unequivocally denounces in the strongest terms the language and sentiments expressed in the newly exposed group chat of young republicans. The October 14th Politico article authored by Jason Beeferman and Emily Ngo brought to light the statements that included pro- Nazi, antisemitic, anti-LGBTQ, racist, misogynistic and violent texts, including texts from young Republicans in Kansas.

While some Republican leaders in Kansas have put out statements decrying the texts and trying to separate themselves from Willliam Hendrix and Alex Dwyer, the Kansans young Republicans in the chat; their most recent actions calling a special session to attack Kansans who are trans and to rig our congressional district boundaries to disenfranchise the voices of voters they disagree with, stands in opposition to the ideals in their statements.

“It is not enough to put out statements decrying the language in those texts. Republicans must stop attacking vulnerable and marginalized groups of people.” said Kansas Democratic Party Chair Jeanna Repass. “This permissive misuse of their legislative authority contributes to groups of people believing that there are no boundaries and no decency in our politics and political discourse."

The Kansas Democratic Party calls on all Kansans, especially Republican leaders and candidates to do more than put out statements, but to lead by example for decency, respect, justice and fairness for all Kansans.
