KANSAS DEMOCRATIC PARTIES CONDEMN THE ARSON ATTACK ON THE JOHNSON COUNTY GOP OFFICES

The Kansas Democratic Party issues a joint statement with the Johnson County Democratic Party condemning violence of any sort.

The Kansas Democratic Party unequivocally denounces all forms of violence. Acts of political violence specifically have no place in a free and open democracy.  Along with the Johnson County Democratic Party, the Kansas Democratic Party condemns the act of violence and arson at the Johnson County GOP Offices in the most ardent terms. All Parties are relieved that no person suffered bodily harm from this senseless act.

“There is absolutely no place and no excuse for violence in our political differences.” Said Kansas Democratic Party Chair Jeanna Repass. “We stand with law enforcement as they pursue justice in this matter. We will never be able to solve political difference with acts of violence, and we send our thoughts to the Johnson County GOP & the Kansas GOP.”

These views are echoed across the Kansas Democratic Party and the Chair of the Johnson County Democratic Party stands against this act of violence in the JoCo community.

“I'm grateful no one was injured in last night's attempted arson as reported by the Johnson County Republican Party. Violence anywhere – whether at a local party headquarters or our U.S. Capitol – undermines our democracy and must be condemned in full. Real progress cannot be made through fear, intimidation, or destruction.

The Johnson County Democratic Party stands for civility, accountability, and respectful civic engagement. We trust investigators will hold those responsible to account and hope everyone would join in rejecting all kinds of violent extremism.”
