Operations Director – Kansas Coordinated Campaign

The 2020 Kansas Democratic Coordinated Campaign is seeking a highly motivated, passionate and talented Operations Director for our statewide organizing program. The Operations Director will report directly to the Coordinated Campaign Director. This is a cycle position, with employment through November 15, 2020. Although the Kansas Democratic Party is based in Topeka, Kansas, this position can be remote for the cycle. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day field operations, including but not limited to supply procurement and tracking and budget tracking
  • Assist Kansas Democratic Party Operations Director in new hire and payroll processing
  • Collaborate with Field staff to address operations issues and needs in a timely manner
  • Work with outside vendors (printer, phone internet, landlord, etc)
  • Work with Coordinated Campaign Director, Organizing Director, and GOTV Director to execute GOTV operations
  • Create and maintain appropriate systems and structures to ensure campaign compliance
  • Other Coordinated Campaign assignments or tasks as directed by the Coordinated Campaign Director

Skills & Qualifications

  • At least one cycle of campaign experience or equivalent logistical experience
  • Experience managing a budget and handling logistics for a large campaign or political organization
  • Exceptionally well organized with intense attention to detail 
  • Strong time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communication with people from many backgrounds

Regional Organizing Director – Kansas Coordinated Campaign

The 2020 Kansas Democratic Coordinated Campaign is seeking highly motivated, passionate Regional Organizing Directors (RODs) for our statewide organizing program. RODs will report directly to the Organizing Director and will oversee the execution of the organizing and voter contact program in their region. They will directly manage a team of organizers, coach, and hold them accountable to daily and weekly metrics. This is a cycle position, with employment through November 15, 2020. Although the Kansas Democratic Party is based in Topeka, Kansas, this position can be remote for the cycle. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, train, and mentor Field Organizers
  • Hold Field Organizers accountable for meeting their daily and weekly benchmarks and goals
  • Track progress to goal, and coaching a team of Field Organizers to success
  • Act as point person in the region with grasstops leaders and key activists
  • Communicate clear priorities, needs, and expectations by implementing communication structures with staff and their volunteers
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills & Qualifications

  • At least one cycle of field experience on issue or electoral campaigns, preferably one cycle managing staff
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure

Field Organizer – Kansas Coordinated Campaign

The 2020 Kansas Democratic Coordinated Campaign is seeking highly motivated, passionate Field Organizers for our statewide organizing program. Field Organizers will report directly to a Regional Organizing Director and will oversee the execution of the organizing and voter contact program within their assigned turf. They will be responsible for recruiting and building a team of volunteers, training them, and ensuring that all voter contact goals are met for their area. This is a cycle position, with employment through November 15, 2020. Although the Kansas Democratic Party is based in Topeka, Kansas, this position can be remote for the cycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regularly reach out to active volunteers, and continually work to identify new volunteers through phone calls. Texting, and other practices
  • Build relationships with local volunteers and host both 1:1 meetings and neighborhood meetings to create community
  • Host neighborhood specific (virtual) events to identify new volunteers
  • Train volunteers to conduct voter contact through canvassing, phone calls, and texting
  • Personally executing voter contact through making phone calls, texting, and engaging digitally
  • Daily data entry of organizing and voter contact data
  • Daily reporting of qualitative and quantitative information 
  • Fulfilling other campaign duties as assigned

  • Experience with a campaign as either an organizer, fellow, or volunteer preferred but not required

GOTV Director – Kansas Coordinated Campaign

The 2020 Kansas Democratic Coordinated Campaign is seeking a full time GOTV Director to join our 2020 coordinated campaign. The GOTV Director will be responsible for helping design and implement the GOTV Plan for the Coordinated Campaign during vote by mail, early vote, and GOTV periods — working in close collaboration with the Coordinated Campaign Leadership. The GOTV Director will report directly to the Coordinated Campaign Director. This is a cycle position, with employment through November 15, 2020. Although the Kansas Democratic Party is based in Topeka, Kansas, this position can be remote for the cycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • In consultation and collaboration with Coordinated Campaign Leadership, help design and implement the 2020 Coordinated Campaign GOTV program
  • Execute advanced ballot and early vote campaigns that lead into the traditional GOTV period
  • Coordinate the creation and implementation of GOTV reporting standards and procedures with the Data Director and senior leadership
  • Implement and track plan to secure, supply, and track GOTV staging locations in collaboration with our Organizing Team, as needed or possible due to COVID
  • Design and organize a statewide GOTV training for the Organizing Team and volunteers in partnership with Coordinated Campaign Leadership

Skills & Qualifications

  • At least 2 cycles of Field Experience, with at least 1 managing staff
  • Proven experience in GOTV programs, implementation and assessment
  • Proven experience collaboratively managing across teams, including staff and consultants in GOTV programs
  • Proficiency with VAN, Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs
  •  Access to reliable transportation
  • Ability to work collaboratively with leadership, consultants and staff, and campaigns on the ticket, to meet or exceed goals
  • Ability to stay calm and focused in stressful situations

Voter Protection Director – Kansas Coordinated Campaign

The 2020 Kansas Democratic Coordinated Campaign is seeking a highly motivated, passionate and talented Voter Protection Director for our statewide program. The Voter Protection Director will be responsible for disseminating high-quality voting information to the public and campaign teams; building and leveraging strategic relationships with elections officials and other stakeholders; recruiting and deploying voter protection volunteers; and triaging voting-related problems through Election Day. The Voter Protection Director will report directly to the Coordinated Campaign Director. This is a cycle position, with employment through November 15, 2020. Although the Kansas Democratic Party is based in Topeka, Kansas, this position can be remote for the cycle. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, produce, and disseminate complete, accessible, and accurate voting information
  • Recruit, train, manage and serve as a resource for volunteer lawyer poll observers, hotline staffers, boiler room personnel, county liaisons, and other volunteers during Early Vote and Election Day
  • Build relationships with election officials, party leadership, campaigns, and other stakeholders
  • Support other departments of the Kansas Coordinated Campaign by fielding questions, creating training materials, interfacing with outside counsel, leveraging relationships with elections officials, etc
  • Plan and implement a comprehensive voter protection plan to identify and triage problems with early and in-person voting
  • Select appropriate legal or non-legal tactics to resolve voting problems.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Excellent research, written, and oral communication skills; comfort with public presentations
  • Impeccable strategic judgment and comfort deploying both legal and non-legal tools; appetite for leveraging in-house communications, digital, data, field, and operations expertise
  • Experience with or willingness to learn to manage large groups
  • Ability to advance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment on tight deadlines and to remain calm under pressure
  • Excellent project management, time management, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Google Docs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate strongly preferred
  • Prior political organizing or campaign experience, particularly experience in voter protection or field operations
  • Local knowledge, including familiarity with Kansas politics and stakeholders
  • VAN and LBJ proficiency

Mobilization Manager – Kansas Coordinated Campaign

The 2020 Kansas Democratic Coordinated Campaign is seeking a highly motivated, passionate and talented Mobilization Manager for our statewide program. The Mobilization Manager will report directly to the Coordinated Campaign Director. This is a cycle position, with employment through November 15, 2020. Although the Kansas Democratic Party is based in Topeka, Kansas, this position can be remote for the cycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a digital organizing program that supports the Organizing Team in meeting out voter contact goals
  • Manage voter contact programs; includes strategic use of digital organizing tools, including but not limited to: P2P, relational organizing, digital volunteer management and event tools, and community organizing on social media platforms
  • Work with Organizing Team to develop distributed volunteer management program
  • Train organizers, volunteers, and staff on digital organizing tools and tactics
  • Maintain relationships with volunteers and volunteer communities on digital channels
  • Propose new tactics and platforms to connect with volunteers and voters in the state
  • Write copy for text messages, social media and manage digital volunteer recruitment tools, including events and volunteer form pages

Skills & Qualifications

  • At least one cycle of digital organizing experience

  • Experience writing for an organization or candidate on digital platforms preferred
