KDP Statement Ahead of First Presidential Debate
Topeka, KS – Ahead of tonight’s first Presidential Debate between Democratic Nominee Joseph R. Biden and Donald Trump, KDP Chair Vicki Hiatt issued the following statement:
“Tonight, while Americans watch Vice President Biden share his plans to contain COVID-19, build our country back better, and give working families and small businesses a fair shot, Donald Trump will be forced to answer for four-years’ worth of lies, failures and broken promises made to hardworking Kansans.
Whether it be abandoning our farmers in a reckless trade war, lining the pockets of the top 1% in his tax scam, or leaving Kansas families with higher taxes and stagnant wages, it is clear that Donald Trump has no regard for working Kansans. Even now, amidst the current public health and economic crises, Donald Trump is rushing to appoint a Supreme Court justice who will overturn the Affordable Care Act to strip 94,000 Kansans of their health care during a pandemic and jeopardize an estimated 1.2 million Kansans with preexisting conditions.
Hardworking Kansans are sick and tired of Donald Trump’s lies, negligence, and continual attacks on our intrinsic values, which is why they will coalesce behind the nation to elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on November 3rd.”
