John Gibson

John grew up on a hog and cattle farm before heading off to MIT for college. He may be the only person in America to earn both an American FFA Degree and a bachelor’s in physics from MIT. After college, John went to law school to practice patent law. He now lives in rural Jefferson County with his wife and (sometimes) his two daughters, both of whom are undergraduates at the University of Kansas. Prior to his election as chair, John served the Kansas Democratic Party as a precinct committee person, a county chair, chair of the rules & bylaws committee, statewide coordinator for the KDP’s election protection legal team, and as a volunteer for numerous campaigns.

Vicki Hiatt
Vice Chair

Vicki graduated from the University of Kansas with a master’s degree in special education. A native Kansan, Vicki retired after a rewarding career of teaching and caring for many of Johnson County’s most at-risk children. She made the decision to run for political office after retiring because of her concern for the state’s slow economic growth and revenue shortages that have forced cuts to state services such as public education funding and mental health programs. With firsthand experience of running a house and senate campaign and political involvement with her county party, Vicki works to recruit and train candidates statewide as vice chair.

Rehan Reza

Rehan immigrated to the U.S. from Bangladesh in 1985 in order to continue his education. Upon receiving his MBA from California State University in 1991, Rehan became a successful businessman and active member of his community. He currently owns and operates 25 Church’s Chicken restaurants in Kansas and Texas which employ over 125 people. His community service includes serving on the Mayor of Topeka’s Human Relations Council, as Secretary of the Downtown Topeka Rotary Club, and as a Board Member of “Let’s Help,” a Topeka-based not-for-profit that aims to break the cycle of poverty. Rehan’s involvement in the Kansas Democratic Party includes founding and chairing the Asian American Pacific Islander Caucus, serving as vice-chair of the 2nd Congressional District, chairing the Shawnee County Democratic Party, and being elected as a delegate to the 2004, 2008, and 2012 Democratic National Committee conventions.

Bill Hutton

Bill grew up in Kansas City, Kansas, where he lives and practices law today. Practicing law since 1979 in private practice, he started out his political career as an administrative assistant to Mayor Jack Reardon in 1975. Bill also served on the Kansas City, Kansas Housing Authority in the mid-1980s, as the Interim Director of the Housing Authority in 1985, and as a part-time municipal court judge in Kansas City from 1996 to 1999 and since 2003 in Bonner Springs. He currently serves as the treasurer of the Wyandotte County Parks Foundation, on the boards of the Downtown Shareholders and the Wyandotte County Historical Society, and plays baseball for the KC Red Sox in the Kansas City Men’s Senior Baseball League.

Teresa Garcia Krusor
National Committeewoman

In addition to her position as the National Committeewoman for Kansas, Teresa is also the DNC Hispanic Midwestern Caucus chair. She has been active with the Kansas Democratic Party for close to 30 years, serving as Cowley County secretary and chair, vice chair, secretary, and vice chair for the 4th congressional district for the Kansas Democratic Party. Teresa has also worked as a representative of the DNC Midwestern States, treasurer of the DNC Association of State Chairs, a member of the Executive Committee of the Association of State Democratic Chairs, and the contact person for the ASDC Alumni Chairs.

Chris Reeves
National Committeeman

Chris is a technology consultant and a political junky. A member of the Democratic National Committee, representing his home state of Kansas, he has also served on the Rules Committee at the DNC 2016 convention. Chris was moderator of the Netroots Nation panel “Local Stepping Stones: Electing People of Color, LGBT Leaders and Progressive Women at the State and Local Levels” in 2016. He is the father of a special needs child and an advocate for autism awareness.
