El Paso, Dayton, and too many others
Topeka, KS – We’re grieving for the victims of the mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton, and our thoughts are with their loved ones in this unimaginable crisis.
We cannot allow the horrific, senseless acts that took place this weekend be just the latest acts of terror, gun violence, and hate we’ve let fade into the background – not because we haven’t pleaded for action, but because some of our leaders refuse to respond.
The gut punch of despair delivered by the news of yet another mass shooting can’t overcome the fact that these tragedies don’t have to define life in America. Each day brings another chance to show what it truly means to be an American, a citizen of the country seen around the world as a beacon of hope, determination, and ingenuity simply because of all who call it home.
