Kobach Attempts Third Political Comeback After 2018 Repudiation
KDP Chair Vicki Hiatt released the following statement on Kris Kobach’s announcement that he is running for Kansas’ open U.S. Senate seat in 2020.
Topeka, KS – Kris Kobach has no place in government, yet after a failed campaign for Congress in 2004 and a failed 2018 run for governor on the heels of a costly and court-punished tenure as secretary of state, Kobach is threatening to horrifically distort and damage Kansas values in the halls of the U.S. Senate.
“Kris Kobach is pushing the same extreme – and often unconstitutional – policies he imposed as secretary of state to disenfranchise registered voters and get his name in the news,” said KDP Chair Vicki Hiatt. “Kris Kobach apparently didn’t get the message from D.C. Republicans that not even his own party wants to deal with Kobach’s toxic agenda. Kansans defeated Kobach twice before, and we’re confident Kobach will strike out in 2020.”
