Statement on the 2018 Kansas Democratic Primary Election
Kansas Democratic Party Executive Director Ethan Corson released the following statement Wednesday regarding the results of the 2018 Kansas Democratic primaries:

Topeka, KS – Congratulations to Laura Kelly on her victory in the 2018 Democratic gubernatorial primary, along with all of our nominees for statewide office, Congress, and the Kansas House. Working Kansans sent a clear message in the 2018 primary election — they are tired of the out-of-touch, radical Republican agenda in Topeka and D.C., and the enthusiasm we’re seeing on the Democratic side is the clearest sign yet that Kansas is hungry for change.

Both Jeff Colyer and Kris Kobach are promising to double down on the catastrophic Brownback tax experiment, while Kansas Democrats will fight for world-class public schools, a 21st century infrastructure, better paying jobs, and affordable health care.

After two years of complete control of Washington, Kansas Republicans have proven themselves completely unfit to represent working families across our great state. Whether it’s their repeated efforts to take health insurance away from more than 100,000 working Kansans, their failed attempts to eliminate protections for pre-existing conditions, their unwavering drive to give massive tax cuts to wealthy corporations and GOP donors, or their failure to protect Kansas farmers and manufacturers from the Republican trade war, Kansas Republicans have failed to do what’s right.

Kansas Democrats are fighting for working Kansans.
